Webmaster, You Should Be Using Google Analytics
If you are a webmaster for a website of any size you should consider installing Google Analytics to track your website traffic.  It is FREE and easy to install, especially if your website is programmed to implement header/footer template files.  Simply integrate a few lines of javascript into your footer template and you are off an running.  Oh, and did I mention it is FREE!

First, go to http://analytics.google.com and sign up for a FREE account.

Second, configure your account and copy/paste the javascript code into your website.

Third, wait a day and watch the results.

What can you track? Visitor information, web design parameters, a graphical site overlay, top content, visual geomapping of visitor traffic, search engine terms and traffic, and so much more.

Give it a try.  I have used numerous paid and free web log traffic analysis software application in the 12 years I have been building websites - far and away this one works the best and provides more detailed information than any others.

What's This All About, Anyway?
So, what is this ProComputerNews.com website all about anyway?

I thought it would be a worthwhile effort to attempt to build a resource on the web that served several interlocking purposes.

We add content to our article database every other day building a library of technology related items of interest.  These articles come from various sources and are all well written and are helpful and informative for both the computer professional, as well as, the layperson interested in technology.

At the same time, we have integrated several news feeds from other websites offering the latest technology breaking news in headline format.

Along the way, we have added a business directory categorized by state and sector that allows professionals in the computer business to secure backlinks and traffic to their websites.

We publish our article database in RSS syndication format to allow our business directory partners (or anyone for that matter) to publish our article headlines and blurbs on their website (great search engine terms, etc.).  Some simple code insertion and you have a revolving front end of technolgy articles for your customers or blog readers that you do not need to maintain.

Conceptually, it appears to be a valid model that will hopefully grow.  Our next goal is to branch out into other industry and cover bases there as well -- eventually again interlocking that network of sites to both increase visibility and search engine rankings.

We'll keep you posted on the progress...Stay tuned...

Identify Theft! Help!
I was bouncing around the web the other day and came across what appears to be a valuable resource.  A website that sells a service that will protect both you and your family from identify theft.

They are able to intercede on your behalf whenever someone uses your social security number to apply for credit.  The CEO of the company actually advertises his SSN on the home page of the website.

It seems legitimate and has been reviewed by CNN, MSNBC, CNBC and others.  I think I will give it a try and post back with our experience.

They even provide a guarantee of up to $1 million per incident if your identity is stolen to help cover expenses.
